Meehan's of An rinn

Máire Connery (Meehan) & her husband, The late John Connery

Back in the 50s,the store in An Rinn was owned by Liam Ó Miadacáin, his daughter Maire pictured above with her husband John Connery, grew up in the atmosphere of the thriving buisness. The Ó Miadacáin family lived in a Bunglow which was designed by Liam, just down the road from the Store. Apart from running the store Liam was a very talented artist and had a particular interest in Celtic design, which was put to use locally in its various formats. Liam was called on numerous times to design displays for various events. He was always keen to oblige. some of his most rewarding efforts were the design of the Stations of the Cross for Ring Church, of course his greatest achievement locally was the design of the Erin's Hope Monument at Helvick. he also designed furniture with a Celtic flavor, much of which survives today.
