Ring College Visitor
Left to right;Ray Geaney,Maire Connery and Nicholas Graves .
Sometime back I was contacted by Ray Geaney who resides in the United States. Ray, came across the Ring Blog and decided to make contact. He had spent a few summers at Ring College back in the 1950s and was keen to make contact with anyone that remembered him from those days. His brother also attended the summers at the College.Maire Connery (Miadacáin) Ray & Nicholas
Ray recalled that he stayed in a cottage that had no electric or water, we discovered that this was Ellen Cleary's house...and remembered two young girls who lived in a bungalow across the road from where he stayed . With the help of some contacts that I have in the Ring area we set about tracking down 'the girls across the road'...these girls turned out to be the Meehan sisters. After much corresponding Ray Geaney paid a visit to Ring and remembered much of the area where he rambled as a youngster. He remembered the céilí as being the most memorable of his stay in the area. Ray particularly enjoyed his return to Ring College, it brought back a lot of memories to him.
